Abstract
- A study conducted at the San Antonio Military Medical Center compared the rates of revision surgery for symptomatic neuromas in patients undergoing primary transtibial amputations with and without targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR). The study found that there was no significant difference in reoperation rates for neuroma between the two groups. Symptomatic neuroma is a common reason for revision amputation, but this study did not find evidence to support the use of TMR in reducing reoperation rates. The study was published in OTA International. [Extracted from the article]
