Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln explored the effects of daily injections of the b2 adrenergic agonist clenbuterol on metabolic outcomes in lambs with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). The study found that IUGR lambs exhibited metabolic dysfunction and systemic inflammation, but daily clenbuterol injections improved several metabolic parameters, including glucose metabolism, insulin secretion, and hyperlipidemia. The researchers concluded that deficient b2 adrenergic regulation is a primary mechanism for metabolic dysfunction in IUGR-born offspring and could be a potential therapeutic target. The study suggests that the benefits of clenbuterol may be due to its suppression of IUGR-associated inflammation. [Extracted from the article]
