Abstract

Researchers at the Federal Research Center of Fundamental and Translational Medicine in Novosibirsk, Russia, conducted a 4-year study on the epidemiological and molecular characteristics of the human adenovirus (HAdV) among hospitalized children with acute respiratory virus infection (ARVI). They found that HAdV accounted for 4% of positive viral detections among the 3190 hospitalized children, with a 1.3% co-infection rate. The researchers also identified the circulation of adenovirus genotypes C1, C2, C5, C89, and 108 during the study period. This study provides valuable information on the genetic diversity of HAdV in Russia. [Extracted from the article]
