Researchers at the Federal Research Center of Fundamental and Translational Medicine in Novosibirsk, Russia, conducted a 4-year study on the epidemiological and molecular characteristics of the human adenovirus (HAdV) among hospitalized children with acute respiratory virus infection (ARVI). They found that HAdV accounted for 4% of positive viral detections among the 3190 hospitalized children, with a 1.3% co-infection rate. The researchers also identified the circulation of adenovirus genotypes C1, C2, C5, C89, and 108 during the study period.
