Abstract

Researchers at the University of Napoli have developed a paper-based electrochemical device for the early detection of integrin avb6 expressing tumors. Current technologies for tumor detection have limitations such as invasiveness, toxicity, inaccuracy, lengthy testing duration, and high cost. The biosensor developed in this study was able to recognize avb6-containing Small Extracellular Vesicles (S-EVs) derived from cancer cell lines, with a limit of detection of 0.7103 S-EVs/mL and a linear range up to 105 S-EVs/mL. This innovative diagnostic technique may provide a novel opportunity for the detection of avb6 expressing cancers. [Extracted from the article]
