Abstract
- A patent application has been submitted for the use of glycerol tribenzoate and glycerol phenylbutyrate in the treatment of neurodegenerative and urea cycle disorders. These disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, cause cognitive impairment and brain damage. The inventors have found that these substances provide a sustained-release form of sodium benzoate, the current treatment, which improves patient compliance. The pharmaceutical composition can be administered through various routes, and the method has shown promising results in reducing brain damage. The patent application also discusses methods for inhibiting the progression of urea cycle disorders using the same composition. [Extracted from the article]
