Abstract

This article discusses the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in endoscopy for the detection of neoplasia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The study evaluated the efficacy of a novel Computer Aided Detection (CADe) algorithm called CADe-IBD. The algorithm was used in conjunction with standard care during colonoscopies, and its effectiveness was assessed by comparing its results to those of expert endoscopists. The CADe-IBD algorithm demonstrated a high sensitivity for lesion detection, with a low miss rate for true neoplasia. The findings suggest that CADe-IBD has the potential to replace current chromoendoscopy-based surveillance practices. [Extracted from the article]
