Abstract

The Nicolai Fechin house in Taos, which was restored in the 1970s after being untouched for 30 years, is a remarkable wonder. Nicolai Fechin, a renowned portrait painter, was born in Russia and moved to Taos in 1927. He acquired an adobe house and expanded it, creating a unique blend of Russian and New Mexican architecture. The house remained untouched until Fechin's daughter returned in 1977 and oversaw its restoration. Today, the house serves as an exhibition space, and plans are underway for an expansion. Fechin's carving techniques and intricate designs are showcased throughout the house, along with his oil paintings and sketches. [Extracted from the article]
