Abstract
- A study conducted by Monash University in Australia aims to determine the effectiveness of behavioral "nudging" interventions in reducing low-value care for emergency department (ED) patients with low back pain. The trial will involve eight ED sites in Sydney and will randomly assign them to receive patient nudges, clinician nudges, both interventions, or no nudge control. The primary outcome will be the proportion of encounters in the ED for musculoskeletal back pain where a person received a non-indicated lumbar imaging test, an opioid at discharge, or both. The results of the trial will be disseminated through media, conferences, and scientific publications. [Extracted from the article]
