Abstract
- In recent years, non-destructive methods of product quality control, such as ultrasonic, laser flaw detection, X-ray radiation, magnetic induction, acoustic emission and others, have become widespread in mechanical engineering. The acoustic emission (AE) method involves recording sound waves emitted by an object under load. Considering possible sources of acoustic emission, we turned to the processes of elastic and plastic deformation, as a result of which energy is released, generating vibrations. These vibrations propagating through samples can be detected using transducers. Despite the wide variety of possible sources of acoustic emission, what is common to all of them is the presence or occurrence of some defect at the micro- or macroscopic level, causing the excitation of stress waves as a result of a change in the elastic energy reserve in its vicinity [1].
