This article examines the issue of corporal punishment, with emphasis on the reasons for resorting thereto and possible ways of its prevention. Although this topic is strongly present in pedagogical discourse, we offer a new perspective on the issue, especially concerning its empirical aspect. The first part of the article reviews Polish and foreign research on the topic, laying the groundwork for formulating our research problem and analyzing our results. The research problem comprises the analysis of the discourse surrounding the use of physical punishment as an educational method conducted on an online forum as part of a task in the educational project. Statements were analyzed qualitatively, inter alia, by using MAXQDA soft ware. The article ends with conclusions and recommendations, underscoring the significance of the identified reasons for employing corporal punishment and highlighting the possibilities of its prevention.
