- The article explores the evolving understanding of periodic limb movements in sleep (PLMS) and their potential association with cardiovascular health, emphasizing the role of the autonomic nervous system. It discusses the prevalence of PLMS, their possible link to hypertension and cerebrovascular disease, and recent research suggesting co-activation of sympathetic and parasympathetic pathways during PLMS episodes.
