Abstract

A recent study conducted at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany compared the clinical and laboratory data of adult patients with cutaneous IgA vasculitis (aIgA-SVV) and non-IgA vasculitis. The study found several differences between the two conditions, suggesting that they are not the same entity. Patients with non-IgA vasculitis had a higher platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and lower serum C3 levels and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration compared to patients with aIgA-SVV. Proteinuria and hematuria were more common in patients with aIgA-SVV and were correlated with systemic immune-inflammation biomarkers. The study concluded that aIgA-SVV and non-IgA-SVV are similar conditions but not the same. [Extracted from the article]
