Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Universite Paris Cite in France focused on optimizing the dosage of vigabatrin, an antiepileptic drug used to treat severe epilepsy in children. The study aimed to identify an acceptable exposure range for the drug by developing a population pharmacokinetic model and studying therapeutic response. The researchers analyzed data from 79 patients and found that bodyweight and creatinine clearance were the main factors explaining the variability of vigabatrin. The study concluded that a target concentration intervention approach using this pharmacokinetic model could help avoid overexposure in responder patients. [Extracted from the article]
