Abstract

A recent study conducted in Giza, Egypt, focused on the detection of Echinococcus granulosus antigen in human and camel sera using a polyclonal antibody-based sandwich ELISA. The researchers isolated the antigen from hydatid cysts and used it to raise IgG polyclonal antibodies. The purified antibodies showed strong reactivity against infected human and camel samples, with a sensitivity of 98.25% and 96.9% respectively. The study concluded that the sandwich ELISA technique is a potent and sensitive assay for detecting hydatid antigen in both human and camel samples. [Extracted from the article]
