Abstract

A study conducted at the Graduate University of Advanced Technology in Kerman, Iran, compared the photothermal properties of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with gold nanoparticles and gold nanorods for cancer treatment. The researchers synthesized and characterized the nanoparticles and evaluated their toxicity and photothermal therapy (PTT) performance on breast cancer cells. The results showed that CQDs were less harmful than gold nanostructures in the absence of laser irradiation and more effective when laser irradiation was applied. This research provides new insights into the potential use of CQDs in photothermal therapy for cancer treatment. [Extracted from the article]
