Abstract
- A recent report from the Connective Tissue Diseases Research Center discusses the occurrence of vasculitis in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). While vasculitis is uncommon in AS, patients with AS who exhibit symptoms such as skin petechiae, purpura, abdominal discomfort, malaise, elevated ESR, and reduced complement levels should be monitored for vasculitis. The report presents a case study of a 48-year-old male with AS who developed abdominal pain and skin lesions after stopping his medication. Clinical evaluations confirmed leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV) related to AS, ruling out other potential causes. [Extracted from the article]
