Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Military Institute of Engineering in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, explores the management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using a novel decision support method called Communalities on Ranking and Weights Method (CROWM). The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices in combating OSA by considering various performance criteria such as resources, warranty, noise, weight, cost, and maintenance. The researchers found that CROWM proves to be consistent, efficient, and superior in decision-making support compared to traditional methods. This research has the potential to significantly impact decision-making in healthcare, benefiting healthcare professionals, researchers, and patients in selecting optimal CPAP solutions and advancing patient care.
