Abstract

A study published in the medical journal Neurology found that immigrants to Canada who have spent a larger proportion of their lives in the country have a higher risk of developing multiple sclerosis (MS) compared to those who have spent less time there. However, the study does not prove that living in Canada causes MS, only that there is an association. The study involved 1.5 million immigrants who arrived in Canada between 1985 and 2003 and were followed until 2016. Factors such as lifestyle, environmental factors, and social determinants of health may contribute to the increased risk. [Extracted from the article]
