Abstract

A recent article titled "A major obstacle to selling EVs" discusses the political polarization surrounding the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the United States. According to a Gallup poll, 61 percent of Democrats are open to buying an EV in the future, while 69 percent of Republicans say they would never buy one. This divide is attributed to GOP leaders, including former President Donald Trump, who have framed EVs as un-American and associated them with liberal ideology. The article argues that this partisan divide poses a significant challenge to achieving the country's climate goals, as EV sales are now concentrated in Democratic areas.
