Abstract
- A study conducted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Cambodia has developed a new serological tool to estimate human exposure to Aedes mosquitoes, which are known to transmit diseases such as dengue. The researchers used Western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays to identify specific proteins in the Aedes aegypti mosquito's saliva that trigger an immune response in humans. The study found that the levels of antibodies against these proteins correlated with exposure to Aedes mosquitoes, making it a potential tool for future epidemiological studies and serosurveys.
