Abstract

A recent study conducted at Texas Tech University has focused on biomimetics, a field that involves designing and analyzing medical devices that mimic biological systems. The researchers aimed to develop a low-cost and efficient test bed for evaluating cardiovascular implants. They designed a left ventricular simulator made of latex rubber and actuated by pneumatic artificial muscles, which closely resembles a native left ventricle. The simulator was found to function similarly to a native left ventricle and has the potential to be used as a test platform for evaluating cardiovascular devices. [Extracted from the article]
