Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Opole in Poland examined the role of telomeres and telomerase in endometrial cancer and hyperplasia. The study analyzed samples from 117 patients and found that the control group had the longest telomeres compared to the hyperplasia and endometrial cancer groups. Telomerase expression was only observed in the endometrial cancer group and was positively correlated with telomere length. The researchers concluded that telomere extension in endometrial cancer is mediated by telomerase, but telomere length may not be an indicator of endometrioid cancer development.
