Abstract

A study conducted at Yerevan State University in Armenia focused on a rare case of phenobarbital-induced leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV). The study found that drug hypersensitivity reactions manifested as vasculitis are uncommon, and there is limited information about barbiturates as a cause. The researchers presented a case of a 53-year-old female who developed severe vasculitis after using medications containing phenobarbital and NSAIDs. Through diagnostic examinations and long-term observation, phenobarbital was identified as the most probable culprit drug. The study emphasizes the importance of awareness and proper recording of cases involving phenobarbital to manage and prevent drug hypersensitivity reactions manifested as vasculitis.
