Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Naples in Italy explored the use of high-resolution brain vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging (VW-MRI) in diagnosing central nervous system (CNS) vasculitis. The study included 14 patients with confirmed CNS vasculitis, with diagnoses including primary CNS vasculitis (PCNSV) and secondary CNS vasculitis (SCNSV). The researchers found that intense, concentric vessel wall enhancement in VW-MRI was often present in patients with CNS vasculitis, particularly in the anterior circulation. Additionally, they observed a correlation between areas of vessel wall enhancement and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) changes. These findings suggest that VW-MRI could be a valuable tool in diagnosing CNS vasculitis, complementing other imaging techniques. [Extracted from the article]
