Abstract

A recent study conducted in Ankara, Turkey, focused on familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), a condition characterized by febrile polyserositis attacks. The researchers specifically examined adolescent FMF patients with menstruation-associated attacks and proposed a management algorithm. The study found that patients with menstruation-associated FMF attacks had different characteristics compared to those without such attacks, including a higher rate of dysmenorrhea and higher attack frequency. The interventions for menstruation-associated attacks included various treatments such as colchicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, and glucocorticoids. The study concluded that on-demand therapies could be beneficial in managing these attacks. [Extracted from the article]
