Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska explored the relationship between maternal-fetal attachment, hormones, and psychological symptoms during pregnancy. The study involved 70 women who had their blood drawn at three different stages of pregnancy to measure oxytocin and human placental lactogen levels. The results showed that while oxytocin levels remained consistent throughout pregnancy, human placental lactogen levels significantly increased. The study also found that increasing levels of human placental lactogen were associated with higher levels of anxiety and depression. Further research is needed to better understand these relationships. [Extracted from the article]
