Abstract
- A recent study conducted in Japan by investigators at St. Marianna University examined the use of percutaneous ultrasound-guided cryoablation (PCA) as a potential treatment for early-stage primary breast cancer (ESBC). The study found that PCA, performed under local anesthesia, was effective and safe, with no serious adverse events reported and no instances of local recurrence or distant metastasis in the five-year follow-up. Patients also experienced improved quality of life and cosmetic outcomes. The study contributes to the growing evidence supporting cryoablation as a potential standard treatment for ESBC, given compliance to pre-defined patient selection criteria.
