Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the Russian Academy of Sciences focuses on the structural and immunological features of PR-10 allergens, specifically the major alder pollen allergen Aln g 1. The study found that Aln g 1 has the ability to upregulate alarmins in epithelial cells, playing a role in sensitization. The researchers also discovered that by replacing two residues in the structure of Aln g 1, its ability to bind to IgE from allergic patients and lipid ligands decreased. This research opens up possibilities for the development of hypoallergenic variants of Aln g 1 for allergen-specific immunotherapy. [Extracted from the article]
