Abstract

This article discusses the different types of abutment-implant connections in dental implants, specifically focusing on the butt-joint and Morse Taper connections. The quality of the connection between the abutment and implant is crucial in preventing bacterial infiltration and subsequent bone loss and soft tissue infection. The Morse Taper connection, which forms a tight cold weld, is effective in preventing bacterial ingrowth and creating a stable connection. In contrast, the butt-joint connection allows bacteria to enter the implant, leading to potential complications. The article emphasizes the importance of choosing the appropriate abutment-implant connection to ensure successful implant treatment. [Extracted from the article]
