Abstract

A recent report published in the Annals of Indian Psychiatry discusses the evolving use of Baclofen, a medication primarily used as an anti-spastic agent, as an off-label treatment for Alcohol Use Disorders. However, the report highlights the increased risk of abuse associated with Baclofen's relaxant properties. The researchers emphasize the importance of being suspicious when encountering patients with Alcohol Use Disorders who exhibit unexplained symptoms of central nervous system depression. The report presents a case study of a patient with alcoholic dependence syndrome who presented in an unconscious state after ingesting Baclofen and alcohol. [Extracted from the article]
