Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Texas Tech University explored the occurrence of non-infectious erythema, also known as Red Breast Syndrome (RBS), in female breast cancer patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery and volume replacement using diced acellular dermal matrix (dADM). The study found that 8.88% of patients developed RBS after the procedure. The researchers observed a significant increase in platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio in the non-RBS group and a significant decrease in white blood cell levels over time. Preoperative chemotherapy was identified as a significant risk factor for RBS. While the study did not establish a causal relationship between RBS and immune status, it suggested a potential association between preoperative chemotherapy and RBS, as well as the role of eosinophilia in eosinophilic dermatoses. Further research is needed to explore these findings. [Extracted from the article]
