Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Texas Tech University explored the effect of exercise intensity and duration on the olfactory detection limits of detection canines. The study found that dogs showed a decrease in olfactory detection sensitivity when exercising at higher intensities. The decline in detection was more pronounced with longer durations of exercise. The researchers developed a novel olfactory paradigm to measure these thresholds and concluded that their findings could help further understand the decline in olfactory detection in dogs during physically demanding tasks.
