Abstract

This article explores the concept of relationality in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and technological advancements. It challenges the idea of the autonomous human self and emphasizes the interconnectedness and interdependence of life on Earth. The article critiques the historical emphasis on rationality and individualism and advocates for new ethical and aesthetic practices that prioritize relationships, empathy, and care. It suggests that embracing relationality can help address the challenges of the Anthropocene and foster a sense of shared responsibility for the planet. The text also discusses how relationality has been understood and utilized throughout history, and includes analyses of literature and art that explore relationality in various contexts. The authors argue that embracing relationality offers hope, challenges normativity, and disrupts the damaging status quo. [Extracted from the article]
