Abstract

Researchers at Lovely Professional University in Punjab, India have developed a method to convert liquid whey, a waste product of the dairy industry, into carbon quantum dots (LW-CQDs) using a hydrothermal process. The LW-CQDs exhibited antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus and demonstrated photocatalytic dye reduction activity. The study suggests that these LW-CQDs have potential applications in waste valorization and sustainable material development. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in Food Bioscience.
