Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Texas Tech University explored the preferences of military service members (MSVMs) regarding landscape design elements in therapeutic gardens. The study found that MSVMs and civilians had similar preferences for utilities and garden elements, such as clear walkways and lighting. However, MSVMs overwhelmingly preferred fences and gates, as well as the creation of privacy and prospect views. These findings suggest that incorporating increased line-of-sight in fenced-in areas may make MSVMs more comfortable in therapeutic garden settings. The study highlights the importance of building inclusive spaces tailored to target populations like MSVMs. [Extracted from the article]
