Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, provides an overview of botulism cases in the country over a 14-year period from 2007 to 2020. The study found that a total of 325 cases of foodborne botulism were reported, with the majority occurring among young adults living in rural areas. Meat and meat-based products were the main food category implicated in the cases. The identified type of botulism toxin was predominantly BoNT/B. The study emphasizes the importance of surveillance data for implementing control measures and educational campaigns. [Extracted from the article]
