Abstract

New research from Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center has identified a previously unknown biological process that leads to drug resistance in breast tumor cells. This discovery could potentially lead to the development of more effective therapies for breast cancer. The research team also tested a drug in combination with an existing therapy, achieving total remission in one breast cancer model and reducing cancer growth by nearly 70% in other models. The study highlights the need to target both the HER2 and EGFR receptors to eradicate drug-resistant HER2-positive breast cancer. [Extracted from the article]
