Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden compared two different methods for predicting the exposure of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in pediatric patients. The study evaluated the performance of allometric scaling of population pharmacokinetic (popPK) models versus physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models based on adult data. The researchers found that allometric scaling of popPK models was better suited for predicting TKI exposure in pediatric patients aged 2 years and older. However, both methods performed comparably in some instances. The study provides valuable insights for model development and pediatric dose selection. [Extracted from the article]
