Abstract

A new report from the University of Brescia in Italy provides data on Early Onset Absence Epilepsy (EOAE) in children. The researchers conducted a retrospective study of 56 patients with absence epilepsy who had onset before the age of four. They found that patients with earlier onset had a worse outcome and lower drug sensitivity. The study suggests that this information could help predict cases where prolonged antiseizure therapy is necessary. [Extracted from the article]
