Abstract

A report from researchers at the University of Naples discusses the detection and elimination of paracetamol in wastewaters. Paracetamol, a commonly used analgesic and antipyretic drug, has been found in high concentrations in water streams in many European countries, posing a potential source of water pollution. The researchers developed a paper-based 2D fluidic configuration that can detect paracetamol in environmental matrices without complex analytical procedures. The device showed promise for simple, fast, sensitive, and sustainable detection of paracetamol as an emerging contaminant in the environment. [Extracted from the article]
