Abstract
- This article discusses the long-term functional outcomes of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with intracorporeal ileal orthotopic neobladder (iNeoB) for the treatment of bladder cancer. The study included 81 men who underwent RARC with iNeoB and were followed up for a median of 41 months. The results showed that 78% of patients regained urinary continence (UC) and 47% regained erectile function (EF) at 2 years of follow-up. The study also evaluated the use of clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) and bowel function (BF) recovery, finding that the 2-year rate of CIC was 13% and 87% of patients reached regular BF after 2 years. The authors suggest that these findings can be used to provide realistic expectations to patients undergoing RARC with iNeoB and emphasize the importance of long-term follow-up for assessing EF recovery.
