Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Hanyang University in South Korea has examined the potential effects of low-level toluene exposure on the nervous system of mothers and infants. The study found that maternal exposure to toluene, a neurotoxic air pollutant, can negatively impact both the mother and the developing fetus. The researchers used Omics experiments to confirm the effects of toluene, which included epigenetic changes and altered mRNA expression. These findings highlight the need for environmental health policies to manage hazardous substances for vulnerable groups. [Extracted from the article]
