Abstract

A study conducted by researchers from the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania explores the relationship between media consumption and beliefs about climate change. The study found that exposure to Fox News and far-right media was associated with doubts about anthropogenic climate change, while exposure to centrist and science media was associated with belief in climate change, perceptions of personal threat, and support for a carbon tax. The study also found that far-right media had a stronger relationship with rejection of the scientific consensus on climate change than more mainstream conservative outlets like Fox News. The findings highlight the importance of considering individuals' media diets in understanding their beliefs about climate science. [Extracted from the article]
