Abstract

A recent study conducted at the KK Women's and Children's Hospital in Singapore examined the impact of adverse childhood experiences and psychosocial risks on child development in low-income families. The study found that children from moderate and high-risk families had poorer cognitive and language scores compared to the low-risk group. Additionally, children of teenage mothers and mothers who experienced sexual abuse had lower cognitive and language scores. The study highlights the importance of early, integrated intervention for vulnerable families. [Extracted from the article]
