Abstract

A report from Seoul National University discusses the potential anti-obesity effects of seaweed algae extracts. The researchers conducted experiments using 3T3-L1 cell lines and an obese mouse model to investigate the mechanism of action. The results showed that dietary supplementation with the seaweed algae extract reduced body weight, fat mass, and gonadal fat in the mice without affecting feed consumption. Additionally, the extract restored serum markers related to lipid metabolism. The researchers concluded that the extract could potentially combat obesity induced by a high-fat diet through the AMPK-ACC signaling pathway. [Extracted from the article]
