Abstract

A recent report discusses research conducted at Khon Kaen University in Thailand on the aesthetics of the nasolabial appearance in patients aged 8-12 with cleft lip and palate. The study involved evaluating the aesthetics of the lip, nose, and nasolabial region by both experienced and inexperienced medical professionals. The findings showed that inexperienced evaluators gave higher scores for appearance than experienced evaluators, suggesting that this information can be used to improve surgical techniques for patients seeking corrections in lip and nasolabial appearance. The research was funded by Graduate Studies Khon Kaen University and the Research Center of Cleft Lip-Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Deformities, in association with the Tawanchai Project.
