Abstract

A recent study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine examined the association between Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels and the risk of infection after penile prosthesis implantation. The study included 62 patients who underwent the procedure between 2015 and 2023. The results showed that patients with higher HbA1c levels had a significantly increased risk of infection. Younger age was also identified as a predictor for post-implantation infection. The study suggests that maintaining good glycemic control may be important in reducing the risk of infection in patients undergoing penile prosthesis implantation. [Extracted from the article]
