Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Technical University Dresden (TU Dresden) in Germany explored the molecular alterations in skeletal muscle (SKM) in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The study focused on the modulation of titin, titin phosphorylation, and contraction-regulating proteins in limb SKM and the diaphragm. The results showed hyperphosphorylation of titin in limb SKM, which could be reversed by high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Additionally, the study found significant differences in the expression of contraction-regulating proteins between the diaphragm and limb SKM, suggesting muscle atrophy and dysfunction in limb SKM but not in the diaphragm. These findings indicate a correlation between titin stiffening and exercise intolerance in HFpEF, as well as differential regulation between different SKM groups. [Extracted from the article]
