Abstract

A recent study conducted at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University explores the relationship between vasculitis and thromboembolic disease. The study found that thromboembolic events often occur during periods of vasculitic disease, although the exact mechanism is still unclear. The researchers conducted a systematic review of literature to investigate the etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment methods for vasculitis. They discovered that certain systemic inflammatory diseases, like vasculitis, are associated with a higher risk of both venous and arterial thrombosis. The study suggests that immunosuppression may be effective in managing venous thrombosis in vasculitis patients, who also have an increased risk of developing ischemic disease.
