Abstract
- The National Football League (NFL) has been ordered to pay approximately $4.7 billion in damages, which could potentially be tripled to $14 billion, after losing a jury trial over anticompetitive practices related to its Sunday Ticket broadcast package. The lawsuit alleged that the NFL conspired with DirecTV to raise subscription prices for out-of-market games, even when viewers' teams were not playing. The jury awarded $96.9 million in damages to commercial subscribers and $4.61 billion to residential customers. The NFL plans to appeal the verdict. [Extracted from the article]
